Grand Rapids Wedding Affair

October 16th can't get here any sooner because Sweet Cakes Design is so excited to unveil their newest creation. We have been busy creating new and fantastic receipts for everyone to try at the Grand Rapids Wedding Affair. The event will be held from 5pm to 9pm at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. A Birthday Celebration!

If you ask me the best part about a birthday party is the cake! What better way to celebrate your birthday then asking a friend to join you as together, you take over Sweet Cakes Design's bakery and create your own masterpiece! These two little boys sampled, designed, sampled, decorated, sampled a few more times and viola, the perfect birthday cake was born.

Feel free to give us a call to if you are interested in scheduling a small birthday party or group outing. Because our kitchen is always busy we encourage parties on weekdays during the months of January through March.

Two Tiered Mini Cakes

We had the pleasure of working with Chasity and Andy back in June and Jenn Marie from Jenn Marie Photography sent over a few fabulous photos of the couples two tiered mini cakes. Each guest received their own wedding cake, well a mini version of course!

I just want to send a little thank you to my team at Sweet Cakes Design. Each and every weekend they produce gorgeous work and the detail and time that went into each two tiered mini cake is why I'm proud to work along side of you. Thank you!

A Dessert for any Event

At Sweet Cakes Design we take pride in creating a magical and memorable dessert for any occasion and over the past few weeks we have had the opportunity to create special treats for many special days. Bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays, you name it, we'll bake it! One of my favorite cake displays was a collect of purses for a bridal shower. A bridal shower it a great time to break-away from your wedding colors and theme and have fun exploring with a fun themed party, crazy food and drink and of course, a not-so-traditional wedding cake.

Civic Theater Cake!

WE WON!
So, what is this all about? SC Design and other area bake shops were
asked by the Grand Rapids Civic Theater to donate a "Birthday Cake" to
celebrate all the birthdays of their wonderful, dedicated volunteers.
They gave us carte blanche in regards to the design, cake
flavors/fillings ect....
As everyone knows, we can't do something simple.........we pulled out
all the stops on this one!
ANYWAY......each volunteer was requested to vote for the cake they
liked the best and we recieved the most votes!

Sooooo...we won a free advertisement in their first playbill for "The
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee".

Myself and my staff REALLY enjoyed participating in this
event.......thanks for letting me share this with all of you!

A Nice Day for a Centerpiece Wedding

A single wedding cake has become a thing of the past. The latest and greatest in wedding trends is centerpiece cakes! Why not alow an entire table of your guest to enjoy there own personal wedding cake? Theses cakes make for great table decor and the styles are endless. Let's let the pictures do the talking.

A traditional tiered wedding cake may still be used but a fun twist would be to display it on the head table!
